Darling,
that night~
we talked for hours
you painted wonders
in the stories you’ve lived
how~
when you sleep,
you dreamt of flying
how~
when you wake,
you dreamt of escaping
of this glorious liberation
towards something better
somewhere larger than life
and this little old city
but I’ve been there
and I choose surrender.
my darling~
you were Peter Pan
beautiful reckless fun
asking me to take faith
just hold your hand and run.
so darling,
let go of my hand now
we’re only weighing each other down
go your way and I’ll go mine
we both knew we had to grow up sometime.
