The Happy Burial of My Personal Monster

I put you in the ground the other day.

It was a happy day, the sky was blue,
there were circles of smoke around you,
remember you said you'd never again?
anyway, the leaves were green and
"ours was never real love", you said.
I agree.

And so you gave yourself a little burial speech,
I didn't need to anymore,
you needed no push down your grave,
you gave me a smile and
"you dug this for me, did you love?
careful as always."

You stayed buried for a minute,
as usual,
then you stood up, and walked away.

I on this side, you on the other.

"Is there anything of yours you want back?"
yes, I wanted to said,
but never did.
