Change, or the ghost of it
One of those long midnight conversations when words flutter about like blind moths attracted to the flame. Sure, I'll be the kind stranger tonight, do share if you feel the need to. She said"It's been some long years, good and bad. But I always hoped she will change and appreciate more what we had. She never did". Inner sigh. It is one of those lessons that are hard to learn and easy to forget: don't expect people to change. They might, but don't expect them to change. Before getting in to deep, ask yourself, can I live with this person as she is now, not with the expectation of the new improved version?
"Why do you live so far?"she asked me. Because, my dear, this is the privilege of kind strangers - they're always far.
